A made-to-order line item is worked by three people who never look at the same screen: whoever runs the shop, whoever makes the thing, and whoever bought it. StatusClerk gives each of them one view of the same job, derived from the same facts, so none of them has to ask another for a status.

Every unfulfilled line item is a job — not an order, a line item — with the personalisation as typed, the quantity and a due date from your lead times.
Five counts on top: needs attention, awaiting customer, ready to produce, in production, overdue. “Ready to produce” is derived from artwork and approval, never typed, so it is never stale.
Tick the identical work and print one run sheet for the lot.

The personalisation exactly as they typed it, and a proof to approve or send back — with ten minutes to change their mind.
Dates come from your lead times and closure calendar. Change one and the customer is told, with the reason.

Paper to work from, a code to move it.
One row per piece: the words to cut set large, the quantity, the needed-by, and a box to tick. No login, no screen to wake.
Scan the code on a piece and the phone offers the next stage or Mark done. Scan the header code and the whole batch moves at once.
Every scan can be undone for a minute, so a mis-scan on a busy morning is not a customer email.

How the three stay in step
Nobody types a status.
The maker's scan is the same event the merchant's queue counts and the customer's page reads. A stage change writes a Shopify tag and an order metafield at the same moment, so Flow, saved views and your other apps see it too. That is why the three views cannot disagree: there is only one fact, shown three ways.
